Hitting The Refresh Button

Oh my GOSH! To say that Summit was a whirlwind of amazingness (yep, it's a word in my world) is not giving it justice! There was so much motivation and inspiration flying around I didn't know what to do with myself.  BUT I will tell you what I did end up doing.  It was five days of little, and I mean, LITTLE sleep.  TONS of running around and lots of time spent with my best friends and other like minded people from all over the globe. The bonus of being in Vegas is a boat load of decadent restaurants with the most amazing menus.  Let's just say after 50 days of strict Paleo living coupled with my birthday celebration- There was some FroYo and Banana Nut French toast in the mix of it all.  So worth it! ((Coaches are human too FYI))

So to backtrack, after switching to a Paleo lifestyle (I went full force- no legumes, no dairy, no grains), and cutting out all alcohol, I dropped 20 lbs pretty quickly after the whole Hypothyroid medication debacle. (That's a story for another time, long story short I gained weight FAST due to an incorrect dosage).  So now that I had dropped that 20 I felt amazing. My body was responding really well to Paleo and P90X3 and I felt invincible.... Until Vegas!  I still ate really clean there, up until the last couple days (like I said it was my birthday, I gave in), but when you add in hardly any sleep the scale has a tendency to go up. So I had gained 10 lbs in Vegas (I attribute some to water weight as well, but still the number JUMPED up) and was NOT pleased.

THANKFULLY, while we were at Coach Summit, not only did I get to meet one of the creators of Shakeology, BUT it was announced that Beachbody had an awesome new product: The 3-Day Refresh.  It was as if the clouds parted, the light shined down, and angels hymned in unison. My experience with the 3-Day Refresh:
Like I said before, it was as if the sky parted, the heavens opened up their gates and this beautiful green box floated down to me like a Godsend. All kidding and sarcasm aside--I'm not joking when I use that analogy.  This baby couldn't have come at a more perfect time to get me back into the swing of things post-Vegas and post-birthday. So to be honest I was super gung-ho about it. I LOVE Shakeology and I LOVE the Ultimate Reset and this program is as if the two got together and made a little detox baby.  You get the best of both worlds- Shakeology, the Ultimate Reset fresh feel, and you get to get clean with REAL food!

The first day was a piece of cake (probably because I was still full from pancakes and FroYo the day before) BUT like I said it went by pretty fast.  I didn't feel hungry, no headaches or anything like that. I actually slept pretty good! I woke up the next morning down 5 lbs. I'm not going to lie, it probably had something to do with a little post vacay water weight, but whatever, I'm counting it!

That day went well too! I even went to a concert (brought my dinner of steamed broccoli and carrots with coconut oil drizzled on them to the tailgate as well as my Vanilla Fresh). Also I should note that I ate dinner at 6 PM and didn't get to bed until 1:30 AM.  I was satiated pretty much the whole time and when I got hungry I just drank more water at the show.  This is seriously an awesome program and you do NOT starve one bit!

Day three wasn't difficult either.  I woke up down another pound- down 6 lbs total! The great thing about this program is I noticed every time I got hungry, it was because it was time to eat again. I had a little headache the last day and didn't know the culprit.  After all I was at a concert last night and didn't get the right amount of sleep that I should have so I'm not 100% sure if I can attribute the achy head to the concert, lack of sleep, or the cleanse so don't take it into too much account but I will be honest with you :)

I woke up the morning after the complete 3 days and my headache was gone! (I had a feeling it wasn't the cleanse but it is possible!) I hopped right on the scale and was down another 1.5 lbs! So for a total weight loss of 7.5 lbs and measuring my waist I was down 2 very bloated, heavy inches off of my waist.  I'm so excited to get back to my workouts FEELING good while I do them and not being weighed down or feel sick!

During the 3 Day Refresh I made sure to drink tons of water and still did my P90X3 workouts. I never felt light headed or anything but everyone is different so be mindful :)  I also skipped the tea options.  I was drinking coffee EVERY day in Vegas and normally don't so I wanted a full detox from caffeine, sugar and wheat.  I feel a ton better and will probably do this every other month as needed. My sleep has even improved.  I can't believe what is possible in just 3 days time!  If you are feeling sluggish, have excess weight to lose, have food cravings and/or just want to feel overall better I HIGHLY recommend giving this a shot!

The simple & quick way to slice up a watermelon!

Summer is finally here and that means it's time for some of my favorite foods to be in season!  Watermelon has ALWAYS been one of my favorites, but it can be a pain to slice up.  I came across this tip and it was WAY too good not to share!  Get ready for your mind to be BLOWN!

1. Take your large watermelon and slice it into quarters.

2. With a sharp knife make vertical cuts down to the white part of the watermelon.  Continue slicing vertically the entire length of the watermelon spacing slices 1 inch apart.

3. Make horizontal slices on each side of the watermelon quarter from end to end, spacing slices 1 inch apart.

4. Take the knife and slice along the inside edge of the watermelon rind. You may have to do this on both sides.

5. Pick up watermelon under the rind and dump into a bowl or food storage container.

6. Repeat with the remaining quarters.

BOOM! Time saved, and watermelon ready to go! So easy and so simple.
